1·Objective: To investigate the important adjacent relationship of the external maxillary artery.

2·The origin of the maxillary artery was located and delimited according to a designed line from incisure intertragica to angulus oris.

3·Objective To supply anatomic material for preventing internal maxillary artery injury in the surgery of condylar process of mandible.

4·Embolization of maxillary artery was performed in 12 cases and additional embolization of ascending pharyngeal artery in 8. Good results were achieved.

5·Objective:To provide anatomy data for embolization at third portion of internal maxillary artery and endoscopic surgery approach to pterygopalatine fossa.

6·Objective: to provide anatomical basis in stopping clinical obstinate bleeding of posterior nasal by ligation of maxillary artery through the posterior sinus.

7·Results The vascularized meningioma was mainly supplied by the middle meningeal artery, ascending pharyngeal artery, occipital artery, internal maxillary artery as well as submeningeal artery.
