1·In this review, the distribution and physiologic functions of endogenous opioid peptides in hypothalamus were discussed.

2·The previous studies suggested that endogenous opioid peptides (EOP) participate in the peripheral mechanism of electro-acupuncture (EA) analgesia for inflammatory-pain.

3·The new concepts about the interactions between opioid peptides and hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis and some theoretical problems further to be studied were suggested in this paper.

4·Such as antihypertensive peptides, opioid peptides, anti-opioid peptides and immunostimulating peptides. Thus a new approach is prospected for development of functional food or pharmacology.

5·To explore the relationship between opioid peptides and the sp induced pressor response, experiments were done in rabbits anaesthetized with urethane and immobilized under artificial respiration.

6·The results suggest that leucine-enkephalin is probably involved in the pathophysiology of cerebral ischemia, and that hemodilution therapy may take effect by regulating endogenous opioid peptides.
