1·Arriving at the ferry terminal, my stomach lurches as I spot the vessel that we are about to spend three and a half hours on, crossing open shark-infested waters.

2·The sweeping steps that rise from the harbour to the statue of the city's greatest and best-loved governor, Armand, Duc de Richelieu, are overshadowed by an ugly modern ferry terminal;

3·Take a public bus (prepare coins, it was MOP2.50 each time you get on the bus) to go to the attractions. You can get a tourist guide at the airport, ferry terminal, or the hotel counter.

4·Only 20 minutes' drive from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, 30 Minutes from Xiamen International Conference Center and within walking distance to the ferry terminal to Gulangyu Island.
