1·This method is expressed in matrix form, and is applicable both for statically determinate and indeterminate problems. The method is will suited to computer-based calculation.

2·A new slope stability analysis method, explicitly satisfying all limiting-equilibrium equations, is presented. To make the problem statically determinate, the variational approach is used.

3·Therefore, three theorems for weight characteristics of statically determinate and indeterminate structures are presented and proved, and the essentials of the problem are explained in this paper.
