1·The C-value paradox: no correlation between apparent structural complexity and genome size.

2·Initial analysis indicates that genome size and intron density is positively correlated to total intron size.

3·With its genome size of 430 megabase paris (Mb), the cultivated rice species Oryza sativa is a model plant for genome research.

4·The estimation methods for insect genome size are introduced, and the variation of insect genome sizes and its significance are also discussed.

5·The differences of genome size among cereals may be due to different degrees of repetitive sequence amplification in intergenic regions in different species.

6·Because of its small genome size, relatively well developed genetic maps and easily to be transferred, rice is a model plant for functional genomics research.

7·The difference of genome size between different insects is due to varieties of duplication of the genome sequence in the amplification, deletion and differentiation.

8·C-value paradox: the lack of correlation between the amount of DNA in a haploid genome and the biological complexity of the organism. (C-value refers to haploid genome size.)

9·The nuclear-genome size differences between the hybrids and their parental taxa occur in spite of the fact that all species possess the same number of chromosomes and are diploids.

10·The longevity dividend seems linked to something in the female genome, and though it's not clear what that critical variable is, size of the animal may play a role.
