1·So the deactivation of medial prefrontal cortex to these pictures is really kind of shocking.

2·When a group of men looked at images of overweight men, there was no medial prefrontal cortex activity.

3·The study, published in Nature Neuroscience, showed that part of the medial prefrontal cortex was activated.

4·By examining the rats' brains, the researchers showed increased activity in some neurons in the medial prefrontal cortex.

5·The medial prefrontal cortex participates in several advanced brain functions including working memory, emotional memory and selective attention.

6·A smaller area called the medial prefrontal cortex fired up, a key finding as Braun's earlier research on how language forms linked that region to autobiographical storytelling.

7·The scientists showed the apparently healthy women images of both overweight and thin female bodies. And their medial prefrontal cortex lit up, particularly at images of overweight women.

8·For one thing, the default network and PTSD both seem associated with the same areas of the brain such as the medial prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate, and posterior cingulate cortex.

9·The team found that the striatum, which forms part of the brain's reward centre, and the medial prefrontal cortex, which affects our reasoning, become more far active when we are amongst our peers.

10·Specifically, the researchers determined whether a volunteer decided to add or subtract two numbers in a math exercise from patterns of brain activity in the medial and lateral prefrontal cortex.
